The Leeds Youth Opera presents Idomeneo, a story that is set in Crete at the end of the Trojan War.
Synopsis:
Caught in a storm at sea, Idomeneus, King of Crete, promises Neptune that he will sacrifice the first human being he meets on landing. Unfortunately this happens to be his son. The moving consequences of his actions are presented by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart through some of his most ravishing music.
Idomeneo was Mozart's first mature opera seria and first great tragedy.
