Lady Hertford And The Prince Regent

October 3rd 2007 00:15
Lady Hertford
A portrait of Lady Hertford

Currently showing at the Temple Newsam House is Caricatures And Satires Of The Regency: Lady Hertford And The Prince Regent.

This wonderful exhibition of caricatures of the owner of Temple Newsam in the early 19th century. Lady Hertford was a favourite subject for the gutter press in her day and her influence over Prince Regent was huge - so much so that she promoted her political allies to keep her enemies out of Government.
