Leeds Civic Hall
June 23rd 2008 22:02
The Leeds Civic Hall on Calverley street opposite the Metropolitan University and General Infirmary was opened in 1933 by King George V and cost £360,000 to construct and furnish.
Built to accommodate the Lord Mayor, City Treasurer and City Council, the Civic Hall has become a Leeds landmark for its grand architecture which boasts two giant gilded owls - a symbol of the city - and roman columns at the entrance.
The best way to explore the Civic Hall is by taking a Guided tour which is available at specific times.
