Thwaite Mills Watermill
June 6th 2008 22:45
Thwaite Mills is a grand riverside museum where you will find a fully restored and working watermill. This centrepiece of the museum features two huge water-wheels that drive the mechanisms so be prepared to be amazed by the sheer power and force of this watermill - one of the best last remaining examples of its kind in Britain.
A guided tour of the facility is the best and only way to explore the mills' history including the story of the Horn family who owned the mill for generations. Other highlights include the industrial machinery, the engineers workshops, the riverbanks, and wildlife.
